Permanent Press and Gentle Dryer Symbols

Some tumble dry symbols have one or two lines under them. These lines usually mean the item needs a gentler dryer cycle.

One line under dryer symbol

This usually points to permanent press or reduced action drying. Use a lower-stress dryer cycle and avoid overdrying.

Two lines under dryer symbol

This means gentle or delicate drying. Use the lowest safe heat, a shorter cycle, or air drying when the fabric is sensitive.

Dryer Symbols by Fabric Type
